A course about ownership should be careful with what it owns of yours.

01What we collect

Ownership Society Academy collects the minimum needed to run a course and keep your work available to you.

  • Account details: the email address you sign in with, and your display name if you set one.
  • Coursework: your answers, their revision history, the feedback generated for them, and mastery scores.
  • Reading notes: the private notes you write for each week.
  • Certificates: the recipient name you enter and your completion record.
  • Contact messages: the name, email, subject and message you submit on the contact page.
  • Basic technical data your browser sends to serve pages, such as request logs.

02What we do not collect

We do not sell your data, run advertising trackers, build profiles for third-party marketing, or collect payment card details on this site.

03Why we hold it

Your email identifies your account and lets us send account-related messages. Your coursework and notes exist so you can revisit and revise them and so feedback can be generated. Contact messages exist so your question can be answered.

04Who can see your coursework

Only you. Answers, revisions, feedback and reading notes are stored with row-level database rules keyed to your own account, so another signed-in student cannot read them. Course faculty can edit readings, questions and feedback settings, and can read messages sent through the contact form.

05AI feedback processing

When you submit an answer, the answer text and the relevant week's readings, slides and plates are sent to an AI model to generate teaching feedback. Your email address and account identifier are not part of that request, and your answers are not used to train the model.

06Sign-in with Google

If you sign in with Google we receive your email address and basic profile information from Google to create your account. We do not receive your Google password and cannot access anything else in your Google account.

07Retention

Coursework, notes and certificates are kept while your account exists so your record stays intact. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to answer and keep a record of correspondence. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your account, answers, revisions and notes.

08Your rights

You may ask at any time to:

  • See a copy of the coursework, notes and account data we hold for you.
  • Correct anything inaccurate.
  • Delete your account and its coursework.
  • Withdraw from the course and stop further feedback generation.
